Bill was a long-time member of Cell Block 7 and combined his percussion duties with MC-ing the band and performing many of the vocals. He was also a tireless background worker for the band, producing their band logo and all the graphics and art-work for their many recordings. Bill had an episode of what was thought to be sunstroke in Logan (Ohio) in mid-June at the Washboard Festival. He was hospitalized shortly after he got home with symptoms of chest pains and shortness of breath. Then he was released from the hospital and went home to recover. He celebrated his 80th birthday at home, and seemed to be on the mend. Unfortunately, he regressed and had to be hospitalized again, and it was here that eventually his heart just gave out. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving wife Beverley and the rest of their family, with friends John and Margery Thompson and Jim Maihack. The memories of his great humour, exceptional friendship and memorable performances live on!
